Shard is a large-scale lighting installation designed for Charlotte Plaza, USA, as part of a refurbishment led by Gensler. A LUUM project commissioned by Gensler, the concept was developed to bring light and energy into the building’s interior.

The installation creates an explosion of light through prismatic acrylic shards, CNC machined and hand-polished to enhance their refractive properties. Some fragments span over two meters, each internally illuminated by high-power LEDs, casting dynamic patterns of light and shadow throughout the space.

The aim was to develop a piece that felt both explosive and weightless, transforming the atrium with shifting illumination while integrating seamlessly into the architectural environment.
